Cal Lutheran men's and women's swimming and diving saw seven different athletes garner All-SCIAC honors, rounded out by Head Coach
Barry Schreifels and his assistants being named Coaching Staff of the Year.
Madi Bodhidatta (Bangkok, Thailand) and
Kendall Moffitt (Atascadero, Calif.) led the way with three all-conference nods each, helping the Regals to 417 points for a fourth-place finish. They both took third in their individual events and set new program record times, as Bodhidatta swam 23.40 in the 50 free and Moffitt finished at 17:23.45 in the 1650 free.
The women's relay teams also landed themselves on the podium twice, setting two more CLU bests. Bodhidatta,
Owan Fralick (Seattle, Wash.), Moffitt, and
Breann Bracken (Fellows, Calif.) were third in the 200 free with 1:35.38, and Bodhidatta,
Faith Timney (Westminster, Calif.), Moffitt, and Bracken were also third in the 400 free with 3:29.51.
The Kingsmen took fifth with 314 points, led by
Lincoln Hall (Camarillo, Calif.) and
Markus Stegbuchner (Glendora, Calif.), who both podiumed in the 100 and 200 breast. In both events, Hall won gold with potential NCAA-qualifying times, finishing at 54.05 and 1:59.43 in the 100 and 200 respectively. Stegbuchner was third in the same events with 55.34 in the 100 and 2:00.87 in the 200.
In his eighth year with Cal Lutheran, Schreifels has coached up an incredible group of student-athletes this season. Under his leadership, the program has earned one SCIAC Athlete of the Week award, set eight new school records, and transformed the teams' top-10 lists to go alongside their seven conference honorees, all in just one year.
Next up for the Kingsmen and Regals is the NCAA Championships on March 19-22 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
