FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Cal Lutheran men's and women's track and field sent 16 athletes to compete at the NAU Tune Up on Friday where they put together several standout performances, including four top-eight finishes and multiple personal bests.
For the Kingsmen,
Darrin Parham led the way with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump, hitting a lifetime-best mark of 13.18m. In the high jump,
Drew Nees cleared 1.85m to finish 12th.
In the throwing events,
Wyatt Nowak placed 15th in the shot put with 11.72m and 21st in the weight throw with 11.03m, while
Jaden Ruiz added a 21st-place finish in the shot put with 9.95m.
Joey Papa posted the top 400 time for the Kingsmen on the track, finishing 34th with 53.57.
Brady Karsten and
Dominic De Leon also competed in both the 200 and 400 dashes.
The Regals delivered strong performances across multiple events, led by
Niani Jones' third-place finish in the triple jump with 10.83m.
Taylor Dominguez placed seventh in the high jump with 1.54m and added a ninth-place finish in the pole vault with 3.20m.
Cheyanne Rodriguez secured eighth place in the weight throw with a lifetime-best of 12.92m, improving by more than two meters from last year's performance at this meet.
Sophia Green recorded personal bests in both the shot put and the weight throw, with 9.02m and 10.91m respectively.
On the track,
Gabriela Pullen and
Jennyfer Hernandez Rosas placed 21st and 23rd in the 400.
The Kingsmen and Regals will return to action at the SCIAC Quad Cup Qualifier on Saturday, March 1.
