Regals Sweep, Kingsmen Win Big in Dallas

DALLAS, Tex. – Cal Lutheran men's and women's tennis each recorded their first wins of the 2025 spring season in Dallas against Hardin-Simmons on Friday morning. It was the first of four matches in four days on the road in Texas.

The men's doubles match began with some drama, as Ethan Sherwood and Loup Sudre won their set 7-5 to even up the score. The Kingsmen pairing of Carlo Drewelow and Raphael Simon advanced to a set tiebreak in which the winner would take the team doubles point. The duo eked out a nail-biting 7-5 victory to give Cal Lutheran some momentum heading into the singles matches.

The Kingsmen took care of the Cowboys with ease, winning five of the six singles matches. Sherwood secured a third-set tiebreak by a score of 10-7. Simon cruised with a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Andy Ai battled early, toughing out a 7-4 tiebreak in the first set before settling in with a 6-3 second set. Drewelow mirrored Simon with a 6-1, 6-3 win. Frederick Otto saved his best for last with a 6-3, 0-6, 10-6 spectacle, giving the Kingsmen a 6-1 team victory over Hardin-Simmons.

The Regals were even more dominant, winning every single time they took the court on Friday. The pairings of Mina Ahmadi - Carmen Bufkin, Kylee Limpias - Maddy Ford, and Anya Rajan - Luisa Garcia each won their doubles sets without needing a tiebreak. The Cowgirls only won six games combined in the three doubles sets.

It was more of the same in the singles matches, as the Regals swept up and down the scorecard. Cal Lutheran didn't lose a single set. Bufkin rolled 6-1, 6-4. Rajan followed suit with a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Ford secured a 6-4, 6-3 win. Limpias tallied a 6-3, 6-3 outing. Garcia held strong in a 7-1 first set tiebreak before controlling the second set 6-2. And newcomer Evelyn Oltmans contributed to her first career team win with a 6-0, 6-3 victory. It was dominance all day for the Regals.

Cal Lutheran tennis will look to keep winning big in Texas tomorrow afternoon at Schreiner at 12pm PT, 2pm local time.
