THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's swimming and diving (1-1, 0-1 SCIAC) hosted Pomona-Pitzer and Westmont on Saturday morning, picking up one win and one loss. The Regals defeated Division-II Westmont 134-127 but fell to the Sagehens 192-90.
Victoria Lawrence continued an impressive start to her collegiate career, placing fourth all-time in school history in the 1,650y freestyle.
Madi Bodhidatta swam well with top-3 finishes in the 50y and 100y freestyles and the 50y butterfly.
Lawrence started off the day with the lengthy 1,650y freestyle, finishing with a time of 17:50.20 to win the event. That places her at fourth all-time in the event in Cal Lutheran history, one meet after setting the school record in the 1,000y freestyle.
Julia Benko performed well in the 100y backstroke, finishing third at 1:01.91.
Four Regals swam admirably in the 50y freestyle, with Bodhidatta leading the group at 24.26, placing third in the event. Lawrence (25.48),
Emily Sellman (25.76), and
Callahan White (25.82) finished fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively.
Bodhidatta managed another strong outing in the 100y freestyle, placing second with a time of 53.59.
Benko got things going again in the 200y backstroke with another third-place finish at 2:13.52.
Making another appearance near the top of the leaderboard was Lawrence in the 500y freestyle, as she claimed second with a time of 5:14.00.
Bodhidatta completed her hat trick of top-3 finishes with a third-place showing in the 100y butterfly at 58.94.
To end the day, the relay team of Lawrence, White,
Ella Call, and
Joli Fong placed second in the 400y freestyle at 3:43.70.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the pool,
Maddie Greig was the only one to place in the 3m dive with 234.08 points. She added 161.85 points in the 1m dive.
The Regals will be back in action this Saturday morning at Whittier.
