VENTURA, Calif. — Mina Ahmadi and Carmen Bufkin of Cal Lutheran women's tennis won doubles at the Ojai Tournament on Sunday afternoon. It was the 122nd year of the annual tournament and the Kingsmen had six individuals and three doubles teams competing.
The duo of Ahmadi and Bufkin had a dominating run, taking down their competition 8-1 in the quarterfinals and 8-5 in the semis. In the final, they were victorious 6-4, 6-2.
Lauren Sebastian and Luisa Garcia also cruised through doubles play. They won 8-3 in the round of 16 and 8-6 in the quarterfinals before falling to Ahmadi and Bufkin in the semis. Maddy Ford and Kylee Limpias also competed in doubles and opened with an 8-4 win in the round of 16 but fell 7-8(4-7) in the quarterfinals.
In singles, Limpias, Sebastian, Anya Rajan, and Garcia all won in the round of 32. Rajan went the furthest as she won 6-1, 6-0 in the round of 32, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in the round of 16, but fell 6-4, 0-6, 5-7 in the quarterfinals.
Limpias won 6-2, 6-3 in the round of 32, Sebastian was victorious 6-1, 6-1, and Garcia won 6-2, 6-0. Also competing in singles were Ford, Fatima Nemi Revilla, Ahmadi, and Reese Rutledge.
The Regals now await a committee's decision for the NCAA Championship.
