CLAREMONT, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's tennis hit the road for a conference matchup and was at Pomona-Pitzer on Friday afternoon.
The Kingsmen fell into a 3-0 hole as the Sagehens took all three doubles matches. Ethan Sherwood and Loup Sudre lost 6-8 at the No. 1, Andy Ai and Raphael Simon were defeated 3-8, and Jake Anderson and James Truong lost 0-8.
The Sagehens continued to score points in singles play. Sherwood and Ai pushed their singles matches to three sets. Sherwood came up just short 4-6, 6-4, 2-10 at the No. 2 and Ai lost 6-4, 0-6, 1-6 at the No. 4. The rest of the Kingsmen fell in straight sets as Sudre fell 0-6, 6-7(1-7) at the No. 2, Simon was defeated 4-6, 1-6 at the No. 3, Truong lost 4-6, 3-6 at the No. 5, and Anderson lost 0-6, 0-6 at the No. 6.
The Kingsmen wrap up the regular season on Saturday. They host Caltech for Senior Day at 10 pm.
