CLAREMONT, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's tennis faced a tough opponent as they fell to No. 1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 8-1 on Friday night.
Andy Ai had the lone win on the day as he won at the No. 4 singles spot. He won in straight sets, defeating his opponent 6-3, 6-4.
The Stags had a 3-0 lead after doubles play. Ethan Sherwood and Loup Sudre fell 6-8 at No. 1, Ai and James Truong were defeated 0-8 at No. 2, and Raphael Simon and Jakob Buhler lost 3-8 at No. 3.
The Kingsmen fell to the Stags in five of the six singles matches. Sherwood lost 4-6, 2-6 at No. 1, Sudre lost 2-6, 6-7(5) at No. 2, Simon was defeated 3-6, 2-6 at No. 3, Truong fell 2-6, 0-6 at No. 5, and Jake Anderson fell 0-6, 0-6 at No. 6.
The Kingsmen are back in action on Sunday. They host Redlands at 12 pm.
