THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's tennis put No. 43 UC Santa Cruz to the test but fell 6-3 on Thursday night.
The Kingsmen took one point from singles play as Ethan Sherwood and Loup Sudre won 8-4 in the No. 1 spot. The Banana Slugs fired back and had a 2-1 lead after doubles play as Andy Ai and James Truong fell 4-8 at the No. 2 and Raphael Simon and Jakob Buhler were defeated 3-8 at the No. 3.
Sherwood and Sudre continued to dominate as the duo also won their singles matches. Sherwood took the No. 1 spot 6-2, 6-1, and Sudre was victorious at the No. 2 spot 5-7, 6-2, 6-1.
UC Santa Cruz bounced back in the No. 3-6 spots. Ai fell 2-6, 6-4, 2-6 at the No. 3, Simon was defeated 6-7 (4-7), 3-6 at the No. 4, Troung fell 4-6, 2-6 at the No. 5 and Jake Anderson was defeated 1-6, 1-6 at the No. 6.
Due to rain in the forecast, the Kingsmen have postponed their weekend dual. They return to action on Friday, April 5th, and host Occidental at 3 pm.
