THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's tennis pulled out a big win as the Regals took down No. 40 Whitman 5-4 on Thursday night.
Kylee Limpias clinched the win for the Regals as they moved to 6-3 and are now 4-1 against Northwest Conference opponents this season.
The Regals took a 3-0 lead early on as they swept doubles play. Carmen Bufkin and Mina Ahmadi won 8-4 at the No. 1, Limpias and Maddy Ford won 8-4 at the No. 2, and Luisa Garcia and Gerda Jucys won 8-7 at the No. 3.
Bufkin continued her dominance and took the No. 1 spot. She won in straight sets with scores of 7-6 (7-2), 6-0. The dual came down to the No. 5 spot and Limpias. She took the dual for the Regals and won 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.
The Blues won the other four singles matches as they most the dual extremely close. Garcia fell at the No. 2, Ford lost at the No. 3, Ahmadi was defeated at the No. 4, and Anya Rajan fell at the No. 6.
The Regals are back in action on Sunday. They host Colorado College at 10 am.
