Ballard Newcomer of the Year; Three All-SCIAC

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Alline Ballard was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year. Janna Holley joined her on First Team and Sara Mills earned Second Team honors the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.

It is the first time since 2017 that the Regals have garnered three or more All-SCIAC honorees. In 2017, the team had four. The Regals have had the Newcomer of the Year in back-to-back seasons, with Ballard joining Holley on that list. The Regals have had three Newcomer of the Year honorees overall.

"I am thrilled about our all-conference selections," Head Coach Kelli DiMuro said. "Each young lady has shown tremendous growth and consistent work ethic. This group of girls showed grit and toughness and all three of them made plays when it mattered. I am proud to have now two times in a row the SCIAC Newcomer of the Year and three all-conference players. What an achievement for these players!"

Ballard (Pasadena, Calif.) was dominant in her freshman campaign. She had nine double-doubles in points and rebounds in the 16 conference games. Her high for rebounds was 18 and her points were 30. She started 15 of the 16 games and averaged a double-double with 13.5 points per game and 11.4 rebounds. She totaled 216 points while shooting an impressive .463 from the floor. She added 182 rebounds, 14 assists, 13 steals, and six blocks.

Holley (Winnetka, Calif.) picked up First Team honors this year after being named Second Team a year ago. She started all 15 conference games she played in and kept the offense moving with 5.2 assists per game. She was second on the team in points per game with 12.8 and scored 192 overall with a percentage of .469. Holley was all over the court and on top of her points had 59 rebounds (3.9 average), 30 steals, and six blocks.

Mills (Joshua Tree, Calif.) earned her first All-SCIAC honor and was named to the Second Team. She was third on the team with 12.5 points per game and led the team with 31 made three-pointers. She started all 16 of the conference games and scored 200 points. She added 46 rebounds, 25 assists, 22 steals, and five blocks.
