FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Cal Lutheran men's and women's track and field competed at an indoor meet as the teams were at the NAU Tune-Up on Friday.
The meet was hosted by Northern Arizona with top-notch opponents. The Regals and Kingsmen combined for four top-10 finishes. Sarah Bjornson, Niani Jones, and Darrin Parham placed ninth and Parham added a tenth-place mark.
Bjornson was ninth in the high jump as she cleared 1.50 meters, Jones placed ninth in the triple jump with 10.70m, and Parham was ninth in the triple jump with 12.27m and then was 10th in the long jump with 6.09m.
Jake MacKinnon was in action in the throwing events for the Kingsmen. He placed 13th in the weight throw and shot put with 13.25m and 12.17m, respectively. The Regals added two more top-20 marks as Jones and Cheyanne Rodriguez both placed 16th. Jones made her mark in the long jump with 4.89m and Rodriguez did so in the weight throw with 10.78m.
The Regals competed in four more events. Sophia Greene was 22nd in the shot put (8.63m), Fatima Cervantes was 26th in the 400-meter run (1:11.29), and Jennyfer Hernandez Rosas was 34th in the 200-meter run (29.91) and 35th in the 60-meter run (8.70)
While part of the teams were at the NAU Tune-Up, the rest of the team was getting ready for the Pomona-Pitzer All Comers which starts on Saturday at 10:30 am.
