TACOMA, Wash. — Cal Lutheran men's tennis started its 2024 campaign by defeating Puget Sound 8-1 on Friday night. The Kingsmen are facing five NWC opponents in four days.
The Kingsmen took a 2-1 advantage after doubles play. Andy Ai and James Truong won 8-6 at the No. 1 spot and Ethan Sherwood and Loup Sudre won 8-3 at the No. 2. The third spot was a close call as Jake Anderson and Frederick Otto fell 7-8(6-8) at the No. 3.
The Kingsmen swept singles play with everyone winning in straight sets. Sherwood won 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 1, Ai was victorious 6-2, 7-5 at the No. 2, Raphael Simon won 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 3, Anderson claimed No. 4 with a score of 6-3, 6-1, Truong took No. 5 with 6-0, 6-4, and Jakob Buhler won 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 6.
The Kingsmen return to action on Saturday and face Willamette at 4 p.m.
