THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the SCIAC Championships this Saturday, November 2, at Carbon Canyon Regional Park in Brea, CA.
The Regals will kick off the event with the 6k race at 9:00 AM.
Summer Gelman has been the standout runner for the women all season, consistently finishing as the first Regal every meet.
Cora Hautekeete serves as the team captain, also being a staple on the roster.
Alison Orwin,
Elliette Sinclair,
Angelina Diaz, and
Nataly Tello have been spectacular as freshmen, delivering outstanding performances for the Regals this season.
The Kingsmen will follow with the 8k race at 9:45 AM. Captain
Eric Talbert has been among the top performers, but the team has seen different runners leading at various meets.
Adrian Rodriguez was the first Kingsmen to finish at the Mark Covert Classic, while Talbert led at both the Biola Invite and The Master's XC Invite.
Sebastian Sawyer was the first Kingsmen finisher at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite.
Logan Bury,
Nicholas Moore,
George Gaitanis and
Diego Romero have also contributed stellar production for the men.
This weekend, both teams aim to deliver strong performances and claim personal bests, building on a season that has already seen both school and individual records broken. High expectations are set for the upcoming championships.
The team is familiar with Carbon Canyon Regional Park, having raced there earlier this season at the Mark Covert Classic.
Head coach
Brett Halvaks emphasized, "The team has improved with every race this season. We aim to have our best performances this year this Saturday."
With a focus on teamwork and hard training, the Kingsmen and Regals are ready to make a strong impact at the SCIAC Championships, striving for competitive finishes.
