Kingsmen Set for Rematch with Cardinals

Box Score $website.include("options")

Appleton, Wis. - With two consecutive wins at the 2017 NCAA Division III Baseball Championships, the No. 3 seed Cal Lutheran baseball team has advanced to the Pool B championship game and sits just one win away from the National Championship series.

The Kingsmen will face No. 7 North Central (Ill.) once again tonight with a scheduled start time set for 6:45 p.m. PT. The start time was originally delayed to due early morning rain and could be delayed later depending on the length of the Pool A final between No. 5 Washington & Jefferson and No. 8 Roanoke.

Last night, the Violet and Gold put on an offensive display with 14 runs on 14 hits in a 14-5 victory over the Cardinals and will look to do the same in their Sunday gold uniforms. North Central will need to defeat CLU twice to advance.

The Cardinals topped No. 2 UMass-Boston in an elimination game earlier today, capitalizing on a Beacons error in the bottom of the ninth to walk-off with a 5-4 win.

If the Kingsmen win and Washington & Jefferson defeats Roanoke, the National Championship best-of-three series will begin Monday, May 29 at 10:00 a.m. PT. If CLU loses, they will face off with North Central once again on Monday at 10:00 a.m. PT or 1:30 p.m. PT depending on if Pool A needs an if necessary game. A complete breakdown of the bracket can be found at the tournament website.
