CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Cal Lutheran women's basketball team will travel to the Claremont Colleges twice this week and hope for the same Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) outcome on Saturday as it came out with today after defeating Pomona-Pitzer 76-58.
Offensive Highlights: Cal Lutheran pulled ahead in the first quarter and never looked back. Eleven different Regals scored in the win with Jessica Salottolo pacing the Violet and Gold by scoring 17 points with five assists. Sofia Cruz and Haley Hodgson scored 10 apiece with Cruz going 4-for-4. Janelle Porter handed out four assists in the win as well.
Defensive Highlights: The Regals combined for 40 rebounds, 11 steals and three blocks. Hodgson pulled down a team-high seven rebounds while both Tatiana Dunlap and Chelsea Jacoby grabbed six. Cruz notched a trio of steals and Cruz, Porter and Grace Derksen each had a block against PP.
The Opponent: The Sagehens looked to Basha Brulee-Wills for a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds.
Notables: Cal Lutheran has just three regular season games remaining. With the win tonight, CLU sweeps PP in the 2015-16 season series, first powering past the Hens 71-51 on Jan. 2.
Next Up: Cal Lutheran (17-5, 11-2 SCIAC) returns to the Voelkel Gymnasium to face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 7:00 p.m. following a men's game at 5:00 p.m.
