THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Tonight in the Gilbert Arena, the No. 3 Cal Lutheran volleyball team swept right by the Caltech Beavers in another 3-0 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match, winning 25-7, 25-8, and 25-5.
In tonight's match, every Regals team player got to see some action on the court and the team combined to hit at a .456 clip. Each of the 12 offensive attackers scored at least one kill. Leading the way was Monica Lundgren with seven kills followed by Allie Eason, Michelle Lawrence and Carson Nicodemus with four apiece while Molly Holloway, Hannah Nua, Sarah Pappas, Dianna Rohrer and Carlee Wood notch three kills each. Wood stepped on the court and scored a kill right away followed by another assisted by Lindsey Kuramoto.
On the defensive end, Nicki Tetherow led the team with six digs, with Kennedy Peters recording five and Hope Stewart finishing with four. Additionally, Lawrence, Lundgren and Rohrerhad one block assist apiece.
At the service line, CLU was consistent and combined for 13 aces. Stewart led tonight's game with five ace serves, and Holloway had two. Eason, Nua, Peters, Tetherow, Mikayla Dobson and Jamie Smith had ace serves of their own.
Caltech (1-20, 0-14 SCIAC) remained winless in league action. Catherine Jamshidi led her team tonight with a total of four kills and Amarise Little with three.
Cal Lutheran (24-2, 13-1) will be on the road Thursday night, Oct. 30 to face newly ranked No. 24 La Verne at 7:30 p.m. at the Frantz Athletic Court.
