SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Cal Lutheran concluded its regular season schedule falling to No. 12 ranked UC Santa Cruz 7-2 on the road Sunday. Ray Worley was part of both Kingsmen points winning at first doubles and third singles against the Banana Slugs.

Results: UCSC 7, CLU 2 - F

Sunday's match featured a duel between two of the top three teams in the West region according to the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) polls. Heading into the day Cal Lutheran was ranked No. 5 in the nation, and the Banana Slugs 12th.

Worley and Nicholas Ballou stretched their doubles win streak to 11 matches following a victory over No. 14 nationally ranked Erich Koenig and Parker Larsen. However it would be the host Banana Slugs that held the lead heading into singles play.

Cal Lutheran was hoping to exact some revenge against UC Santa Cruz (10-9) who knocked them out of the first round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament in their previous meeting. However it would be the home side taking 5-of-6 singles matches with Ray Worley's win at third singles avoiding the singles sweep.

CLU was playing its third straight match in as many days including a Saturday road trip to visit UC Santa Cruz. In spite of that Worley managed to remain unbeaten during that stretch with three singles wins including two over regionally ranked foes. He teamed up with Ballou to knock off three regionally ranked doubles squads.

Cal Lutheran (13-7) will send members of its squad to take part in the Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament starting on Friday, April 27.
