CLAREMONT, Calif. - Only one team would remain undefeated in conference action following a Friday afternoon men's tennis meeting between Cal Lutheran and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. CLU came up short dropping a 6-3 road decision to the Stags at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.

No. 6 nationally ranked CMS entered the day on a seven-match win streak and 14-3 overall on their home courts. The No. 5 ranked Kingsmen were hoping to earn their first win over the Stags since 2005 snapping a nine-match losing streak to CMS.
Cal Lutheran's Nicholas Ballou and Ray Worley provided all three of the team's points for the match starting with an 8-4 doubles win. Ballou went on to earn a convincing 6-1, 6-1 victory over nationally ranked Warren Wood at first singles. Worley rebounded to take the final two sets in a 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 victory over Robbie Erani at third singles.
Ballou improved to 10-0 overall in SCIAC contests following Friday's results. Worley improved to 9-1 in conference action including a 4-0 record at No. 3 singles and 5-0 at No. 1 doubles.
The CMS roster boasts five nationally ranked singles players according to the pre-season Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings. Four of the five ranked earned straight set victories after the Stags took a 2-1 lead following the conclusion of doubles play.
CLU drops to second place in the SCIAC standings holding a half game advantage over Redlands. The Bulldogs have yet to play No. 6 CMS and No. 11 Pomona-Pitzer this season.
No. 5 Cal Lutheran (12-6, 4-1 SCIAC) will host No. 25 Whittier (12-8, 2-3 SCIAC) in its final home contest of the year on Saturday, April 21, at 10 a.m.
