THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Cal Lutheran returned to conference play on Friday afternoon facing No. 15 Redlands at the Poulson Tennis Center. The No. 9 Kingsmen rallied to take five of six singles matches to earn a 6-3 win over the Bulldogs.

Results: CLU 6, UR 3 - F

Cal Lutheran's Nicholas Ballou and Ray Worley made quick work earning the team's first point after winning 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. However it would be Redlands with the lead heading into singles play after taking the other two doubles matches in convincing fashion.

The Bulldogs would be shorthanded for its conference opener against the Kingsmen. Freshman Patrick Lipscomb, the team's usual No. 1 starter who is undefeated in singles play this season, would not compete on Friday.

Instead Ballou, currently ranked No. 4 in the West region, would face Nick Cummins, currently No. 11 in the West. Ballou and Worley would combine to score the team's first three points and give the host Kingsmen a 3-2 lead. Both players finished off their respective matches within minutes of each other's straight sets victories.

Connor Treacy provided the fourth Cal Lutheran point but Redlands stayed alive following Jack Reynolds' victory at No. 6. The Kingsmen were in need of only one win over the final two matches who included Justin Wilson and Thomas Millet.

Millet was up a set and an early break in the second against UR's Teddy Jones. He held that advantage to 5-4 and served out for the match winning the final game at love for a 6-4, 6-4 win.

Cal Lutheran capped off the match on a high note after Wilson defeated Redlands' Mark Bloom 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5) to finish out the day. He extended his season-high win streak to four matches and earned his second victory over a regionally ranked foe.

Cal Lutheran (8-2, 2-0 SCIAC) will be on the road Saturday, March 17, against Caltech (0-6, 0-1 SCIAC).
