ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – Senior Josie Oparanaku closed out her career in historic fashion, earning Second Team All-SCIAC honors for the second consecutive season and cementing her place as one of the most accomplished players in Cal Lutheran women's lacrosse history.

Oparanaku becomes just the second Regal to earn multiple All-SCIAC selections, joining program standout Malina Diaz, and the final student-athlete to do so as the program concludes competition following its recent discontinuation.

She led the Regals in nearly every major statistical category during the 2026 campaign, pacing the team with 38 goals and 48 points while also adding 43 ground balls, 27 caused turnovers, and 46 draw controls. Her all-around dominance continued to define her game, impacting every phase from offense to possession battles and defensive pressure.

One of the most memorable performances of her career came against Edgewood, where she set single-game program records with nine ground balls and six caused turnovers in a dominant outing.

Oparanaku's legacy extends well beyond this year. As a junior in 2025, she set the program's single-season record with 61 draw controls, showcasing her elite ability in the circle. This season, she also reached a historic milestone, becoming the first player in program history to score 100 career goals.

She finishes her career as Cal Lutheran's all-time leading goal scorer with 113, while ranking second in program history in points (135), ground balls (118), and draw controls (157), trailing only another Regals great, Sydney Shin. Oparanaku also holds the program record for caused turnovers with 63.

As the program comes to a close, Oparanaku's name will remain etched throughout the record book, leaving behind a legacy defined by consistency, toughness, and all-around excellence.
