Lohmeier Slots 100th Career Goal to Lead Regals Past Whittier

WHITTIER, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's water polo kept its momentum rolling on Saturday morning, cruising to a 17-4 victory over Whittier at the Slade Aquatics Center.

The Regals (11-11, 7-2 SCIAC) set the tone immediately, exploding for five first-quarter goals while holding the Poets scoreless to build a commanding early advantage. The offensive surge continued in the second period with five more goals, sending CLLU into halftime firmly in control with a 10-2 lead.

The third quarter brought more of the same, as the Regals once again found the back of the cage five times, stretching the margin to 15-4. With the outcome well in hand, the Regals added a pair of goals in the final frame while shutting out Whittier to secure the dominant 17-4 result.

Lauren Lohmeier led the way with four goals, including the 100th of her career, a milestone moment that underscored the Regals' dominant showing. Aleaha Gonzalez matched her with four goals of her own, adding an assist to post a team-high five points.

Olivia Hurley, Reyna Clark, Clarisa Robles, and Jacqueline Brandon all added two more goals each, highlighting Cal Lu's depth throughout the lineup.

In goal, Izzy de Souza and Sophie Raquel split time and combined for 12 saves, anchoring a defensive effort that limited the Poets to just four goals on 24 shots.

Cal Lutheran returns to the pool on Saturday, April 4, traveling to face Occidental at 11 a.m. The Regals narrowly edged the Tigers by one goal in their SCIAC home opener earlier this season.
