THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran women's lacrosse team ran into a tough Redlands squad on Saturday morning, falling 20-2 at William Rolland Stadium.
The Bulldogs set the tone early and never let up, scoring five goals in the opening quarter and adding eight more in the second to take a commanding 13-0 lead into halftime.
Redlands continued to control possession throughout, outshooting the Regals 30-9 and capitalizing on strong draw control and efficient clearing to maintain momentum.
Cal Lutheran broke through late in the third quarter when
Madison Soforenko found the back of the net for the Regals' first goal.
Josie Oparanaku added another early in the fourth, finishing a pass from
Sydney Shin to account for the team's scoring.
Oparanaku led Cal Lutheran with five shots, while Soforenko contributed three draw controls. Shin recorded the Regals' lone assist and added two draw controls.
Defensively,
Bella Bravo made six saves in goal as the Regals worked to slow a balanced Redlands attack that saw 10 different players score.
Cal Lutheran will look to bounce back quickly, returning to action on Monday, March 23 for a non-conference matchup against Linfield at 4 p.m. at William Rolland.
