Dominguez Newcomer of the Year; Seven All-SCIAC Honors

Taylor Dominguez was named the SCIAC Newcomer of the Year and the Kingsmen and Regals earned seven more all-conference honors, announced on Friday.

Dominguez, a first-year from Newbury Park, California, had an outstanding 2025 campaign highlighted by consistent top finishes and record-book performances. She claimed first place in the pole vault in the team's first meet of the season with a mark of 2.85m and later tied for third all-time in Cal Lutheran history with a 3.35m vault at the Pomona Invite.

Dominguez earned All-SCIAC honors in both the high jump and pole vault after tying for second in each event at the conference championships, posting marks of 1.57m and 3.18m, respectively. Her high jump performance also tied for tenth in CLU history.

Throughout the season, she earned podium finishes at key meets including third in the pole vault (3.22m) at SCIAC Quad #1, third in the high jump (1.55m) at Westmont, and fourth in the high jump (1.52m) at the Oxy Spring Break Classic. She also earned SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors on March 10, capping off a breakout season that establishes her as the top newcomer in the conference.

Joining Dominguez on the All-SCIAC list is Cheyanne Rodriguez, Drew Nees, Camden Hyde, Aidan Crawford, and Darrin Parham.

Rodriguez, a junior thrower from Santa Clarita, California, had a dominant season across all of her events. She claimed multiple first-place finishes throughout the year, including wins in the hammer, discus, and javelin.

Rodriguez moved up to seventh on Cal Lutheran's all-time list in both the hammer and javelin, highlighted by a second-place hammer finish (44.72m) that secured her All-SCIAC recognition. Her season also included a lifetime-best in the weight throw—an improvement of over two meters from the previous year—and top-three finishes in nearly every meet.

Nees, a first-year native to Portland, Oregon, earned All-SCIAC honors after finishing second in the high jump at the conference championships, capping off a strong and consistent season. He opened the year with a first-place finish at the season's first meet, and continued to dominate by taking first at both SCIAC Quad #1 and the SCIAC Quad Cup Final.

Hyde, a sophomore jumper from Meridian, Idaho, was third in the high jump at the championships to earn All-SCIAC, an impressive feat considering he joined the season in mid-March after competing as a dual-sport athlete on the men's basketball team.

In his first meet at Westmont, Hyde made an immediate impact, placing second in the high jump and third in both the long jump and triple jump to earn SCIAC Athlete of the Week. He continued with a second-place high jump finish and a win in the long jump at SCIAC Quad Cup Final, followed by runner-up finishes in both the high jump and long jump at the Moorpark Open.

Crawford (Davis, Calif.), also a first-year jumper and dual-sport athlete, earned all-conference honors with a third-place finish in the long jump at the championships, landing a mark of 6.76m to cap a strong debut season.

Competing in his first meet at Westmont, Crawford placed fifth in the long jump with a 6.50m effort. He continued to impress at the SCIAC Quad Cup Final, finishing second in the long jump, winning the triple jump, and contributing to a third-place finish in the 4x400 relay. At the Pomona Invite, he set personal bests in both the 200m dash (22.88) and the long jump (6.65m).

Parham, a junior jumper from San Diego, California, rounded out the All-SCIAC awards with a third-place mark of 14.03m in the triple jump, which moves him up to seventh all-time in program history.

He opened the year with a runner-up finish in the triple jump at the first meet of the season, and followed it up with a third-place triple jump and fifth-place long jump at the first Pomona Invite. Parham recorded a lifetime-best of 13.18m at the NAU Tune Up, and continued his success with a second-place finish at SCIAC Quad #1.

The Regals and Kingsmen have two meets remaining, the APU Franson Last Chance and the Redlands Final Qualifier, for individuals to try to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
