THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's lacrosse fell to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 19-7 on Wednesday night.
It was a quiet start to the first period, as the Regals (6-8, 2-7) kept the Athenas (9-5, 8-1) out of the cage for the first four-and-a-half minutes of game time.
After finally breaking through, CMS rattled off six unanswered goals in the subsequent two-and-a-half minutes of play.
The Regals tacked on two goals of their own behind two points from
Sydney Shin, sending the game into its first break 7-2 in favor of the Athenas.
Following a trio of CMS goals, captains Shin and
Malina Diaz answered back with scores of their own to make the contest 11-4 going into halftime.
The Athenas struck first with a pair of goals in the third period before the Regals countered with two of their own, courtesy of Diaz and
Madison Soforenko.
The fourth period was a relatively quiet one, with only three total goals scored between the two teams. The clock hit triple zeros with only two combined goals in the last ten minutes of play.
The Regals are back in action at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 12 as they host the Redlands Bulldogs.
