WHITTIER, Calif. – Cal Lutheran got back in the win column, snapping a three-game skid with a big 19-6 win over the Whittier Poets.
The Poets struck first before five unanswered goals by five different Regals put the game at a 5-1 tilt in favor of Cal Lutheran with about 10 minutes left in the half.
The Poets caged two to cut the deficit to 5-3 before a pair of Regals scores put the lead right back at four. With under ten seconds in the half,
Miya Avila matched a Poet goal with one of her own to extend the Regal lead to four going into the break.
The third quarter was all Regals, who outscored Whittier 6-1, including four unanswered to open the half.
The dominance bled into the fourth for Cal Lutheran, who scored the period's first five goals, including a pair from
Madison Soforenko to stretch the lead to 19-5.
The Poets notched a garbage time goal to bring the score to 19-6, the tally the scoreboard read when the final horn sounded.
The Regals will look to stay hot at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9 as they host the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas.
