THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Kingsmen fell just short to the Linfield Wildcats in a tight 5-3 ballgame yesterday.
Zach Gardner broke the 0-0 tie in the fourth inning with an RBI single to score
Alec Garcia. Gardner's single was laced to left field, putting the Kingsmen up 1-0.
Wyatt Crosby added a second run for Cal Lutheran with a sacrifice fly to drive in Phillip Jeong.
From then on, Linfield scored four unanswered runs with one run in each of the sixth through eighth innings. The Kingsmen found themselves down 5-2 in the bottom half of the ninth inning. Jeong kept Cal Lutheran alive with a single to right center field, allowing
Griffin Zitko to touch home. The Kingsmen's comeback was not enough as they fell, 5-3.
Garcia, Jeong, and
Noah Matsumoto each recorded two hits, while Jeong and Gardner each had an RBI.
The Kingsmen will return to SCIAC play with a three-game clash against conference rival, the Chapman Panthers. The first game of the series will take place at home today at 3:00 p.m.
