CLAREMONT, Calif. – Four different Regals scored against the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens in an 11-5 loss on Wednesday.
Izzy de Souza had ten saves and
Katie Knight found the back of the cage twice as she now has 49 goals on the season.
The Regals found themselves down 4-0 after the first, and that deficit remained halfway through the second period.
Lauren Lohmeier and
Hudson Geier chipped away at the lead and traded goals with the Saghens to keep Pomona Pitzer's lead to 6-2 at halftime.
The Sagehens opened the third quarter with a goal, but
Chloe Gardhouse responded with a score to help the Regals stay in the game at 7-3. Knight beat the Sagehens' goalie twice in the fourth period, but it was not enough to overcome Pomona's three goals in the quarter. Cal Lutheran fought hard against a tough Sagehens team.
Six different Regals had steals featuring three from de Souza in an excellent defensive showing.
Bethany Metcalfe and Gardhouse each added an assist.
Knight set the single-game program record for exclusions drawn with eight, as she made her presence felt all game beyond her two scores.
The Regals will look to get back in the win column at home against La Verne on Saturday, March 22 at 11:00 a.m.
