Regals Split with Leopards, Game 3 Postponed

Cal Lutheran softball is currently split with La Verne in the SCIAC series after falling to the Leopards at home on Sunday and winning on the road on Monday.

In game three, the Regals (6-2, 1-1) were up 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning before the contest was cut short due to rain. Play will resume at a later date, which is still to be determined.

GAME ONE: LA VERNE 4, CAL LUTHERAN 0
The Leopards (7-5, 1-1) got ahead early with a four-run first inning. Both offenses would remain scoreless after that frame, combining for just nine more hits.

Ashlyn Flinchum (2-1) went the distance for Cal Lu, striking out three and allowing only one earned run.

Mia Antonino got on base three times for the Regals as she walked twice and singled down the left field line in the bottom of the seventh. Dani Diaz and Olivia Vargas each added a hit apiece in the home loss.

GAME TWO: CAL LUTHERAN 12, LA VERNE 5
Cal Lutheran rallied for 18 hits and 12 runs in La Verne, both team season-highs.

A two-run bomb from Jessica Waters highlighted the top of the first inning as the Regals jumped on the Leopards early. Later on in the sixth, Antonino and Abby Strong both singled and Brooke DeSmet had a sac fly to give Cal Lu four more insurance runs and put the game out of La Verne's reach.

Ally Forbell (2-1) threw 4.0 innings to get the win in the circle before Flinchum (1) came in for the save. The two combined for six strikeouts, nine hits, and two walks.

Six different Regals had multi-hit games and seven recorded at least one RBI, led by Waters and Diaz who both went 3-4.
