Kingsmen Perfect at Home, Weber Sets Dig Record

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran men's volleyball completed its third and fourth-straight sweeps on Saturday afternoon, defeating North Park and Illinois Tech for a perfect weekend at the Cal-Lu-Fornia Invitational.

The Kingsmen (18-4) dominated the Vikings to get the day started, 25-17, 25-19, 25-18. 

Jordan Cooper led the offense with 12 kills (.391 pct) and four service aces, and Ben Weber had 11 kills (.400 pct), seven digs, and two blocks. Parker Brown and Braden Gonzales held down the defense, posting three blocks and nine digs respectively.

The teams evenly exchanged points to start set one before Cal Lu went on a 12-3 run to take a seven-point lead. Michael Stahl would put it away with a kill and an ace.

North Park came out hot in the third set, taking an early 5-1 lead. The Kingsmen fought to chip away before out-scoring the Vikings 12-1 to run away with the set and the sweep.

The second match of the day was highlighted by Weber, who became the new all-time leader in digs with 554. The previous record of 551 was held by Eli Moore ('22).

25-15, 25-15, 25-17 were the set scores as Cal Lutheran out-hit the Scarlet Hawks .391 to .129. The Kingsmen also held the advantage in blocks (7-2) and aces (5-0).

Cooper was a force to be reckoned with, tallying another 12 kills (.321 pct) and all five of the team's aces. He had three back-to-back-to-back in the first set. Stahl hit an impressive .563 with nine kills while also adding four blocks and six digs.
