THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – For the second night in a row, Cal Lutheran men's volleyball swept the Marian Sabres, this time 25-12, 25-17, 25-15.
The Kingsmen offense was on fire per usual, hitting a season-best .500 percent led by
Michael Stahl. He recorded 10 kills on the night for a career-high .833 clip.
Ben Weber dominated all over the court, following Stahl with eight kills and leading the defense with nine digs. He is just 10 digs away from holding the CLU all-time career record.
The Purple & Gold (16-4) opened the match with an incredible 18-5 run featuring kills from five different Kingsmen. They were only two points away from holding Marian to a single-digit score before the Sabres managed to swing a pair of kills. The first set concluded on a kill from Weber.
Set two started with a bit of back-and-forth action before the Kingsmen went on a six-point rampage and took advantage of a Marian service error to head to the third up 2-0.
Matthew Wilcox kicked off the finale with a kill off the bench, and
Connor Crawford subbed in to add four kills and a service ace. Down by nine, the Sabres ended the match with yet another error from the service line, allowing the Kingsmen to walk away with their second-straight sweep.
Cal Lutheran will close out their home tournament with a doubleheader tomorrow, beginning with a 12 PM contest against North Park. That game will be followed by a 3 PM match with Illinois Tech.
