CLAREMONT, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's water polo clashed against CMS, controlling the game with a one-goal advantage at halftime, before the Athenas rallied for a comeback win.
The Regals jumped out to a 3-1 lead with two goals from
Miranda Miller and one from
Megan Findlay. Miller beat the goalie for her third goal of the game, and
Katie Knight scored a last-second goal to give Cal Lutheran a 5-4 edge. Knight and Miller persisted on the offensive end with one goal each in the second quarter to put the Regals up 7-6 at the half.
Coming out of the break, CMS notched five unanswered goals and seven total in the third as
Jacqueline Brandon scored in efforts to keep Cal Lutheran afloat. Knight and
Reyna Clark each scored in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough as the Regals fell 10-18.
Miller led the way with four goals while Knight added three. Findlay and Knight additionally tallied an assist each.
The Regals will be back in action against Caltech at home on Saturday, March 15, at 11:00 a.m.
