THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Behind a program-record nine goals from Malina Diaz, Regals lacrosse defeated Alfred University 18-14 on Saturday afternoon.

It's the second win in a row for Cal Lu (3-3, 1-3) and its third at home. The win also marks the most wins through the team's first six games in program history. 

It was a tight one early, with the Regals up just 3-2 about halfway through the first period. They would rip off a 6-2 run over the next period and a half however, holding a 9-4 lead going into halftime. 

The third period would be the highest scoring of the game, with 10 total goals being scored by seven players: six for the Regals and four for Alfred (0-3, 0-0). 

Alfred would net four-straight goals to open the fourth period, cutting the Regal lead to three with nine minutes of game time. 

Cal Lu would answer with three goals of its own however, putting the game away. 

"Feels great to have another win under our belt! Malina's hustle and determination was huge in leading us to the win," MacEllen McDonough said. 

The Regals are back in action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11 at Pacific Lutheran.
