PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Cal Lutheran men's volleyball completed its second-straight sweep of the week, sinking the Lakeland Muskies 25-19, 25-20, 25-14 on Friday night.
Jordan Cooper was dominant with 12 kills and three service aces on the match, followed by Conner Crawford who added nine and two more, respectively.
Borys Horiuk led the defense with five total blocks and Braden Gonzalez contributed 12 digs.
The Kingsmen opened the first set with a 9-1 run, featuring kills from
Parker Brown, Crawford, and Horiuk that sent Lakeland into an early timeout. They continued to stun the Muskie defense, finding holes and forcing errors to take the set.
Crawford and Cooper combined for four kills to help Cal Lutheran to a 7-4 advantage in set two, shortly followed by two Cooper aces to put the team up by five. Lakeland put up a fight, but nothing the Kingsmen couldn't handle as a big Crawford solo block ended the set.
It was the same story to start the finale, as Crawford and Cooper rallied for a 5-0 CLU lead before
Matthew Wilcox and
Ben Weber chimed in to blow the Muskies out of the water. Ahead by ten,
Aidan Godfrey and
Ryan Foreman came off the bench to help the Kingsmen put the game away.
Cal Lutheran will have Saturday off before heading to MSOE for a doubleheader on Sunday. The team will face the Raiders at 8 AM PT before taking on UW-Stevens Point at 11 AM PT.
