CLAREMONT, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women's lacrosse fell to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in its season opener 6-20 on Wednesday night.
The loss thwarted the Regals (0-1, 0-1) debut of head coach
MacEllen McDonough and was some quick revenge for the Athenas (1-0, 1-0), from whom McDonough was poached.
McDonough said she felt the contest provided a very solid foundation to build on as the season progresses.
"I saw a lot of hustle today and a lot of potential. It was a solid start to the season and we're excited to put in the work to move forward," McDonough said.
The six goals scored by the Regals were spread out amongst five players.
Josie Oparanaku logged two goals, marking the eighth multi-goal performance of her career.

The Regals will make their long-awaited return to William Rolland Stadium, playing in their first true home game since 2023 at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19.
