Holley Named to All-Tournament Team as Regals Pummel Albertus Magnus

NORTHHAMPTON, Mass. – Four Regals tallied at least ten points and Janna Holley was named to the Tyler Tip-Off All-Tournament Team as Cal Lutheran women's basketball (2-0, 0-0 SCIAC) handled Albertus Magnus College (0-2, 0-0 GNAC) 98-57 on Sunday morning.

Cal Lutheran got off to a roaring start in the first quarter, jumping out to a 14-2 lead. With about two minutes left in the first, Holley hit a three pointer to bring the Regal lead to 22-12, a double-digit lead the Regals held for the remainder of the contest.

The Regals continued the barrage in the second quarter, shooting 43% from the field and cashing eight free throws, only needing two threes to outscore the Falcons 30-12 and send the game into the break up 60-28.
The third quarter was a low scoring one, with only 26 points combined between the two squads. A layup from Bridget Cox at the buzzer gave the Regals twice the Falcons' points, sending the contest to the fourth with Cal Lutheran up 76-38.

Ava Dunn got the scoring started for the Regals in the fourth, matching a Falcons jumper with a layup to go back up 38. Layups and free throws rounded out the Regals' scoring over the last few minutes of play, completing a dominant 98-57 victory.

The Regals' proficiency in the paint and lockdown defense helped seal a dominant victory en route to a 2-0 start and a sweep in Northampton.

Sophomore Sydney Heyn recorded her first collegiate double-double, notching 20 points and 14 rebounds in the win.

The Regals' 41-point victory is its largest since Dec. 1, 2022, when the Regals beat Bethesda by 40.

Cal Lutheran is back in action this week as it hosts Stanton in its home opener.
