Nishizawa Honored as Newcomer of the Year, Reese Named First Team All-SCIAC

The SCIAC announced its Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams and Awards this week with two Kingsmen represented. Shaw Nishizawa was named Newcomer of the Year, and Kane Reese made an appearance on the First Team.

Nishizawa, a freshman defender from Maple Valley, Washington, started in all 16 of the games he appeared in, logging the third-most minutes on Cal Lutheran with over 1300. He immediately made a positive impact on defense with his aggressive play style. Nishizawa contributed on offense as well with two goals and an assist.

A forward from Scottsdale, Arizona, Reese scored seven goals this season, with all seven coming in SCIAC matches. That number ranks Reese seventh in the conference in goals scored and second in goals scored in SCIAC games. He went 3/3 on penalty kicks, and his 17 shots-on-goal in conference contests ranks third. Reese also co-led the Kingsmen with two assists as he played a part in over half of his team's goals this year.

With his senior year coming to a close, Reese wraps up an impressive career in which he appeared in 47 games, played over 1900 minutes, scored 11 goals, and added four assists.
