THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Cal Lutheran men's soccer (2-7-2, 1-4-2 SCIAC) hosted Whittier on Wednesday evening, falling 2-1.
The Kingsmen managed to hold the Poets off for the majority of the first half and made their way to the Poets net, but were unsuccessful. With 17 minutes left in the first half, Whittier (9-1-2, 3-1-2 SCIAC) scored its first goal of the game.
The Kingsmen managed 10 shots in the first half with four shots on goal. The shots on goal for the first half were taken by
Zach Mohr,
Lance Park,
Brendan Stafford, and Maximo Scheletto.
The Poets started off the second half strong, scoring their second goal of the game during the 58th minute of the game. Despite the deficit, the Kingsmen continued to put up a fight. New life was found in the 80th minute when
Max Scott scored a goal for the Kingsmen. The Kingsmen fought hard but were unable to equalize the match down the stretch.
The Kingsmen will be back in action at home this Saturday as they take on UC Santa Cruz for senior day.
