PASADENA, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's soccer (2-6-2, 1-3-2) fell to the Caltech Beavers (6-0-4, 3-0-2) 1-0 on Saturday night.
Through the first half, the Kingsmen held strong defensively, never letting the Beavers through to take a shot.
Maximo Schelotto took an early opportunity to shoot on goal in the 12th minute, but went over the crossbar. Just five minutes later,
Kane Reese made his attempt at a goal as well, missing high.
The rest of the first half saw consistent possession switching back and forth between teams, with no shots on goal recorded
Early the second half,
Gavin Arce saw an early opportunity to score, but missed left.
Just moments after Arce's attempt, the Beavers found the back of the net, scoring in the 46th minute.
From there, the Kingsmen took every chance to even the score, but were either met by the defensive strength of the Beavers or took a shot resulting in a shooting error.
Over the course of the game, the Kingsmen took 10 shot attempts with 3 on goal, but were outdone by the Beavers' 13 attempts with 4 on goal.
Defensively, both teams made 3 saves, while the Kingsmen recorded 14 fouls to Caltech's 8.
The Kingsmen will look to get back in the win column as they host Whittier at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8
