Cal Lutheran Dominates Wheaton with 31-1 Victory

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's water polo (5-6, 0-1) delivered a resounding performance Friday afternoon, defeating Wheaton College (MA) 31-1.

The Kingsmen opened the match with relentless offensive pressure, netting nine goals in the first quarter alone. Levi Cook set the tone early with two scores, while Adam Scrivner and Alan Castillo added quick strikes to add to Cal Lutheran's momentum.

The second quarter proved equally dominant as Dylan Villanueva tallied back-to-back goals and Nic Mastropoalo scored twice, including one on an exclusion opportunity. By halftime, Cal Lutheran had built an insurmountable 17-0 advantage.

After the break, CLU continued its attack. Luke Chang registered four goals, including one on a penalty shot, while Noah Carreon and Ceasar Nava each recorded multiple scores down the stretch. In total, 13 different Kingsmen found the back of the net.

Wheaton's (0-8, 0-0 MPSF) lone goal came late in the fourth quarter from Josh Vander Wagen on an exclusion, preventing the shutout.

Dylan Bassler protected the cage for the Cal Lutheran in all 32 minutes, allowing just that one goal while saving eight shots.

The Kingsmen finished the day with two wins, highlighted by the 31-1 victory. Cook and Villanueva each recorded hat tricks, while Nava, Carreon, and Chang netted four goals apiece to fuel the offensive explosion.
