Cal Lutheran football escaped La Verne with a 23-19 victory on Saturday, becoming the first Kingsmen team to win its first five games since 1982. After receiving votes in the national coaches' poll for the first time since October 2021 last week, Cal Lutheran received a few more votes in
this week's edition.
Before their win this past Saturday, the Kingsmen received four votes in the poll. They are now up to seven, and will look to continue climbing the rankings when they host Chapman this Saturday night at 7pm for homecoming weekend. Chapman is the only other team without a loss in SCIAC play, giving Cal Lutheran a great chance for a marquee win.
