MECHANICSBURG, Pa. In the first ever meeting between the two teams, Cal Lutheran men's soccer kicked off their two-game trip to Pennsylvania against No. 18 Messiah, falling 4-0 to the Falcons on Thursday evening.
The Kingsmen (2-1-0) played a tough first half against the Falcons, surrendering the first goal in 23rd minute but keeping the Falcons off the scoreboard despite getting outshot 12-5.
The Falcons pulled away in the second half, scoring just two minutes after the break to push their lead to 2-0. They would get two more insurance goals in the 55th and 64th minute to put the game out of reach.
Shots were 23-11 in favor of the Falcons. Gen Katashiba and Harrison Brown both made appearances in goal for the Kingsmen, with Katashiba making four saves and Brown making one. Max Scott, Jack Gominiak, and Jackson Endlsey led the offense as each had a shot on goal.
The Kingsmen look to get back in the win column as they continue their road trip. They take on Gettysburg College on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 9 a.m. PST.
