SAN ANTONIO, Texas – In their first match up in over 10 years, Cal Lutheran men's soccer fell to Trinity University 0-2. The Friday night game was the Kingsmen's first of two matches for their trip to the Lone Star State.
In the first half, the Kingsmen (2-2-1) battled with the Tigers (3-0-2), keeping them off the board through the first 25 minutes of play. Trinity's first goal came off the foot of Cameron Smith, assisted by Louis Instrall. The Tigers pushed their lead to 2-0 just four minutes after the half time break off a goal from Hunter Cain. Nine more shots followed Trinity's second goal, but none found the back of the net.
The Tigers out shot Cal Lutheran 25-3, and also held favor in corner kicks 11-1.
Gen Katashiba collected five saves for the Kingsmen and
Joel Wollin had the lone shot on goal. CLU saw shots from
Tika Kakimoto and
JP Melgoza as well.
The Kingsmen look to return home from Texas with a split, after facing Southwestern University (3-0-1) on Sunday September 15th. Kick off is set for 10:00 AM PST.
