WHITTIER, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's lacrosse tied for their highest scoring output this season and dominated Whittier 18-9 on Wednesday night.
The Regals improved to 4-8 overall and 2-5 in conference play. They swept the Poets in the 2024 season.
Meghan Angus and Malina Diaz led the way with five goals each. Sydney Shin was next with four goals and Madison Soforenko added three more. The Regals recorded 12 assists on the 18 goals. Soforenko dished out four assists and Shin and Giselle Bonilla had two each.
Bella Bravo was in goal and got the win. She made 10 saves and had a save percentage of .526. Shin and Diaz led the defense with four groundballs and Sydnee Hill added three. Leila Bauwens and Diaz caused two turnovers each.
The Regals were in control from the very beginning. They scored six goals in the first quarter and the first nine goals to start the game. The Regals continued to cruise into and through the second. They took a big lead and were up 16-5 after three quarters. It was the Regals' first sweep of a conference opponent as they took the game.
The Regals continue the season with conference play. They are at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday at 1 pm.
