No. 21 Kingsmen Split with Willamette

SALEM, Ore. — No. 21 Cal Lutheran baseball split with the Willamette Bearcats on Saturday afternoon. The Kingsmen took the first game 9-2 but fell in the second 6-0. 

The Kingsmen are now 25-11 on the year. They are 13-2 against non-conference opponents. 

GAME ONE: Kingsmen 9, Bearcats 2
Josh Quinn, Lucas Danielwicz, and Noah Matsumoto all homered to lead the Kingsmen to victory in the first game of the doubleheader. 

The Kingsmen had an early lead as they scored a run in each of the first two innings. Sebastian Smith had an RBI single in the first and Quinn hit his solo home run in the second. The Bearcats answered and tied the game in the third. The Kingsmen fired back with two runs in the fifth, sixth, and ninth, and one in the eighth, and took the game. Danielwicz homered in the fifth for two RBI, Kai Caranto singled in a run in the sixth, and Blake Wink scored on a wild pitch. Danielwicz had another RBI in the eighth and Matsumoto hit a 2 RBI homer in the ninth. 

John Frazier pitched a complete game for the fourth time this year and got the win as he improved to 7-2 with a 2.45 ERA. He struck out nine while giving up just two earned runs. 

GAME TWO: Kingsmen 0, Bearcats 6
Danielwicz went 3-4 to lead the attack, however, the Kingsmen left nine runners on base. Troy Anderson added two hits and Alec Garcia and Caranto had one. 

Joshua Kim got the start and took the loss after 4.2 innings pitched and four earned runs. The Bearcats scored one run in the first, three in the third, and two in the sixth. 

The series is on the line tomorrow as the teams play one final game on Sunday at 12 pm.
