THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's tennis picked up a nice win as the Regals upset No. 41 Occidental 5-4 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Regals improved to 8-4 on the year and are now 1-1 in conference play.
The Regals led 2-1 after doubles play. Mina Ahmadi and Carmen Bufkin won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles and Maddy Ford and Kylee Limpias were victorious 8-5 at the No. 2. Anya Rajan and Fatima Nemi Revilla fell 5-8 at the No. 3.
The points went back and forth in singles play. Kayla Kling and Limpias won while Ford and Nemi Revilla came up short. Kling won 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 6 and Limpias won 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 6 and the Regals led 4-3.
The clinch came at the No. 1 spot from Bufkin. She dominated the first set 6-0 and took the second 7-5 as Bufkin and the Regals won the dual. The Tigers took the final point as Luisa Garcia was outlasted at the No. 2.
The Regals are looking for another SCIAC win on Saturday. They are at Whittier with the first serve set for 10 am.
