THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Ryan Farr collected five hits, and 10 Kingsmen pitchers saw action as Cal Lutheran baseball won its eighth straight game, beating Bethesda 16-4 in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon.
The Kingsmen won their 20th game and their 16 runs set a new single-game high this season. Their eight-game win streak is the longest since the 2017 season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Milan Bugarin (W) was the first arm for the Kingsmen on the mound followed by Dean Olsson, Michael Smith, Oscar Lopez, Colten Hanson, Carson Stanfield, Cameron Cooper, Max Sagan, Kyle Johnson, and Wesley De La Torre. The staff allowed four runs on just five hits while striking out four in the contest.
The Kingsmen led just 2-0 through five innings of play, but exploded for 12 runs in the next two innings, scoring seven in the bottom of the sixth and five in the seventh.
Farr and Sebastian Smith led off the sixth with back-to-back singles, and the Kingsmen scored the first run of the inning after a Flames (5-29) error allowed Farr and Smith to score. Griffin Zitko and Carlos Vegas hit back-to-back singles, then Jona Dawson drove in a run to make it 6-2. Josh Quinn walked, Troy Anderson scored Vega with a sacrifice fly, and Farr, in his second plate appearance of the inning, singled again to drive in two runs to make it 9-2 and cap off a huge inning for the Kingsmen.
