THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Taylor Marks recorded his 2,000th career assist and No. 6 Cal Lutheran men's volleyball swept Aurora on Wednesday night. Scores of the match were 25-18, 27-25, and 25-18.
The Kingsmen won their fifth straight match and have swept nine opponents, including four of their last five. The game kicked off the Cal-Lu-Fornia Invitational.
Marks had 40 assists as he surpassed 2,000 for his career. He is the first Kingsmen with 2,000 assists. He added six digs and one kill.
The Kinsmen had a hitting percentage of .357 on the night as Michael Stahl hit .538 with 17 kills and Jordan Cooper was .391 with 12. Stahl added a team-high in digs and aces with nine and three, respectively.
The Kingsmen dominated Aurora in the first and third sets but were put to the test in the second. Down 23-21, the Kingsmen tied the match at 24-24 after back-to-back kills from Borys Horiuk and Stahl.
Aurora would take the lead once more at 25-24 before the Kingsmen fired back again. Stahl recorded back-to-back kills and the match ended with an error from Aurora.
The Kingsmen have five more games in the Invitational. Up next is Rivier on Friday at 3 pm. They also play Baldwin Wallace at 6 pm.
