Kingsmen Push Win Streak to Seven

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — No. 6 Cal Lutheran men's volleyball pushed their win streak to seven as the Kingsmen defeated the Rivier Raiders 3-0 and Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets 3-1 on Thursday night. 

It was the sixth and seventh straight win as the Kingsmen improved to 18-4. It is tied for the most wins in program history for a season. The 2023 and 2018 squads also had 18 wins. 

GAME ONE: Cal Lutheran 3, Rivier 0
The Kingsmen cruised past the Raiders with scores of 25-17, 25-17, and 25-12. It is their 10th sweep of the season. 

Jordan Cooper and Michael Stahl led the way with 12 kills each. Cooper hit with a .550 percentage and added four digs. Stahl hit .381 with three aces. Taylor Marks kept the offense rolling with 26 assists and Ben Weber had five digs. 

GAME TWO: Cal Lutheran 3, Baldwin Wallace 1
The Yellow Jackets won the first set as the Kingsmen fired back to win the next three. With set two tied at 22, Cooper and Weber had back-to-back kills to get to set point. After a Yellow Jacket kill, Weber tied the match with a kill. 

The Kingsmen ran away with the third and fourth sets. Down 6-4 in the third, the Kingsmen used an 11-3 run, took a commanding lead at 15-9, and coasted to the 2-1 match lead. In the fourth set, the Kingsmen jumped out to a 7-1 lead and never looked back as they took the match. 

Cooper continued to lead the way with 14 kills. Borys Horiuk was next with 11 kills and Weber added nine more. The Kingsmen served 11 aces with Cooper, Horiuk, Stahl, Matthew Wilcox, and Marks having two each. Marks added his sixth double-double of the season with 35 assists and 11 digs. 

UP NEXT
The Kingsmen have arguably their biggest day of the season on Friday. The No. 6 Kingsmen host No. 7 St. John Fisher at 12 pm and No. 1 Wentworth at 6.
