THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran started the week off with tough competition as the Kingsmen fell to No. 33 Vassar 6-3 on Monday.
The Kingsmen (5-2) found themselves down 2-1 after singles. Loup Sudre and Ethan Sherwood picked up one point as they took the No. 1 spot 8-4. Andy Ai and James Truong fell at the No. 2 and Raphael Simon and Jakob Buhler were defeated at the No. 3.
In singles play, Sherwood and Simon showed their dominance. Sherwood won 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 1 and Simon took the No. 6 spot 7-5, 6-4.
The Kingsmen dropped the other four singles matches and lost the dual. Ai fell at the No. 2, Sudre was defeated at the No. 3, Jake Anderson fell at the No. 5, and Truong was defeated at the No. 6.
The Kingsmen are back in action next Tuesday. They head to UC Santa Barbara to take on Harvard on March 12th at 2:45 pm.
