THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's lacrosse put up a tough test as the Regals battled the Willamette Bearcats on Friday afternoon. The Bearcats took the contest with a final score of 19 to 11.

The Regals went point for point with the Bearcats to start the game. It was 3-3 as the Bearcats scored two goals to end the first quarter. The Bearcats scored two goals to start the second quarter, capping off a 4-0 run. The Regals did not back down and answered with two goals to cut the lead to 7-5.

The Bearcats responded with four goals and had an 11-5 lead at the half. The Bearcats shut out the Regals 6-0 in the third quarter and had a 17-6 lead. The Regals fired right back in the fourth. They outscored the Bearcats 5-2 and put up a tough fight to end the game.

Sydney Shin led the way with four goals and Josie Oparanaku added three. Four more Regals scored once. Giselle Bonilla dished out three assists, and Shin added two. Madison Soforenko controlled the center of the field with four draw controls. Malina Diaz and Shin were next with three draw controls. Bella Bravo was in goal and made 10 saves.

The Regals return to action on Wednesday and are at Whittier with a start time of 7 PM.
